PAT Track: Realtime Bus Tracking in Pittsburgh, PA
PAT Track is a free Android application that provides realtime tracking of Port Authority Transit (PAT) buses in Pittsburgh, PA. The app allows users to select up to 10 buses at a time and see them move on the map in realtime. Clicking on a bus displays its estimated time of arrival (ETA) to its next 8 stops. Users can also see the bus stops for selected routes when zoomed in at a certain level and clicking on stops shows ETAs to buses for all currently selected buses.
Port Authority has released their realtime tracking API, and the data provided in the app is official. As of December 2015, the app now tracks 99 buses and 1 shuttle. PAT Track is an open-source app, and recent news is posted on its Facebook page.
However, the app is not responsible for which buses and routes are being tracked as it only gets information from Port Authority. If a certain route or bus is not on the app, this is most likely not the fault of the app but of Port Authority. The app requires several permissions, including location, internet, and network access, among others.
